Removing a user's access from your workspace should adjust your subscription costs, but admins often report seeing charges for removed seats on their next invoice. This occurs when seat permissions are revoked without reducing the overall billing seat count.
Quick checks
- Confirm whether the user's explicit Figma Weave permission was revoked or if only their general Figma team role was modified.
- Check if your billing agreement charges for maximum seat capacity rather than active assigned users.
- Determine whether the seat change occurred mid-cycle, as prorated credits apply to future invoices rather than immediate refunds.
- Check unassigned seat capacity.
Go to Admin Console > Billing in your Figma dashboard. Removing a user frees up a seat license but does not automatically lower your paid seat threshold. You must manually decrease your paid seat capacity to stop future charges.
- Update team seat count.
In the Billing tab, locate your plan summary and select Change Seat Count. Reduce the total quantity to match your current active headcount before the upcoming renewal date.
- Audit user entitlement status.
Ensure the former user no longer has active access permissions. If the user still retains feature tools unexpectedly, check our guide on Figma Weave missing in Figma to verify entitlement inheritance settings.
- Review recent invoice line items.
Examine your receipt breakdown using our Figma Weave billing error guide to identify whether the charge is a true recurring seat fee or an unapplied credit adjustment from a previous cycle.
Still stuck?
If your seat count was lowered prior to the renewal date but you were still billed for empty seats, open a ticket through the official Figma billing department. Figma Weave Support is an independent resource and does not have access to subscription administration or account invoicing.
