Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and tax-exempt businesses occasionally encounter errors when submitting tax exemption certificates for Figma Weave subscriptions. If your certificate gets rejected or sales tax keeps appearing on monthly invoices, subtle formatting errors or regional database mismatches are often to blame.
Use these troubleshooting steps to validate your documentation and apply tax-exempt status successfully.
Quick checks
- Ensure the company or institution name on your tax certificate matches your workspace billing organization name word-for-word.
- Check that your tax-exempt certificate is current, signed, and covers the billing address region configured on your account.
- Check /fix/figma-weave-down to ensure background verification services aren't experiencing operational degradation.
- Verify document format and file size
Ensure your uploaded exemption certificate is a single PDF or PNG file under 5 MB. Multi-page tax forms must be combined into one PDF, and blurred or cropped scans are automatically rejected by payment processing systems.
- Re-enter your Billing Address and Tax ID
Go to Admin Settings > Billing > Payment Method. Ensure your Tax Identification Number (EIN, VAT, or State Tax ID) is entered in the designated field without dashes or spaces, unless specified by your local authority.
- Resubmit through the dedicated tax portal
Instead of re-attaching documents to old support tickets, open your Billing tab, remove the rejected document status, and re-upload the valid state or federal exemption certificate directly.
- Address authorization and decline errors
If the tax update fails due to payment processing issues or card validation glitches, refer to our /fix/figma-weave-billing-error guide to resolve transaction flags.
Still stuck?
If your valid tax exemption document continues to be rejected automatically, contact official Figma support with your official state or government exemption certificate for manual review. Figma Weave Support is an independent help center and does not manage official user billing accounts or tax exemption claims.
