When populating AI-generated frames with mock text or avatar images using the Content Reel plugin, you may encounter synchronization failures. This usually happens when Figma Weave leaves selection nodes locked in an active generation state or when layer naming conventions conflict with the plugin's data mapping script.
Quick checks
- Ensure Figma Weave has finished rendering completely before selecting layers for Content Reel.
- Verify whether Figma Weave is not generating or experiencing script delays in your document.
- Confirm you are running the latest version of Content Reel from the Figma Community repository.
- Check that the text or image fill layers inside the Weave generation are not hidden or locked.
- Unlock and isolate generated layout nodes
Figma Weave wraps AI component outputs inside nested auto-layout containers. Select the target frame, right-click, and select Unlock All. Ensure individual text layers or fill frames are directly selected before applying content presets from Content Reel.
- Clear canvas layer selection state
If Content Reel displays a persistent loading spinner or fails to insert copy, click an empty area on your canvas to clear your selection. Re-select the specific text node inside the Weave output and re-trigger the sync action in Content Reel.
- Detach instance components if overrides fail
When Weave creates dynamic component instances, Content Reel may fail to override text variables. Select the Weave component instance, press `Cmd + Option + B` (Mac) or `Ctrl + Alt + B` (Windows) to detach the instance, then run the plugin fill action again.
- Reset Figma desktop application cache
Stale plugin cache files can break inter-plugin execution. Close Figma, open your terminal (or Command Prompt), and clear your Figma cache directory, or use Help > Diagnostics > Clear Cache and Restart within the desktop app.
Still stuck?
If Content Reel continues to fail when applying data to AI layouts, check if Figma Weave is missing in Figma or if canvas permissions are restricted. Figma Weave Support provides independent troubleshooting guides to help you resolve plugin compatibility bottlenecks.
