When using Figma Weave, you may occasionally encounter an infinite generation loop where the progress indicator spins indefinitely without creating canvas layers or returning an error code. This guide provides step-by-step troubleshooting steps from Figma Weave Support to restore responsive design generation.

Quick checks

  • Verify your internet connection is stable and responsive.
  • Confirm your account has remaining generation allowance; see our guide on /fix/figma-weave-billing-error if your account has reached credit limits.
  • Check whether server-side outages are impacting functionality by reviewing /fix/figma-weave-down.
  1. Cancel the active prompt execution

Press `Esc` on your keyboard or click the cancel button inside the prompt bar. Stopping the hanging request clears the local execution pipeline so you can initiate a clean attempt.

  1. Deselect all canvas objects

If you had complex frames or components selected when submitting the prompt, Weave may hang trying to evaluate deeply nested structures. Click on an empty canvas area to clear your selection before running the prompt again.

  1. Clear your Figma desktop app cache

Accumulated cache files can cause the UI thread to freeze during background generation. - On Windows: Close Figma, press `Win + R`, enter `%APPDATA%\Figma`, and delete the `Cache` folder. - On macOS: Open Finder, press `Cmd + Shift + G`, go to `~/Library/Application Support/Figma`, and clear the `Cache` directory.

  1. Try running Weave in a fresh canvas file

Copy your prompt text, open a brand-new Figma document, and launch Weave there. If generation succeeds in a blank file, your original file may contain corrupt layers or unsupported web font references blocking execution.

  1. Reset the Weave generation interface

If prompts continue looping across all files, refer to our troubleshooting steps for /fix/figma-weave-not-generating to reset the underlying plugin environment.

Still stuck?

If your prompts still loop indefinitely after following these steps, test generation from Figma in a web browser using Incognito mode to bypass local browser extensions.
