figma weave generating mobile layout instead of desktop

Learn how to resolve issues where Figma Weave generates compact mobile wireframes when you requested desktop UI designs.

Figma Weave Support is an independent troubleshooting resource for Figma Weave and is not affiliated with Figma.

When generating UI concepts using Figma Weave, the engine sometimes defaults to a compact mobile breakpoint (e.g., 390px width) despite desktop context in your prompt text. This viewport mismatch typically happens due to active canvas frame selection, ambiguous prompt framing, or default container preferences stored in the generation session.

Quick checks

  • Clear any active canvas selection before hitting generate so Weave doesn't inherit a smaller frame's dimensions.
  • Verify your prompt explicitly states desktop width tokens (such as 1440px or 1920px).
  • Check if Figma Weave is down or unreachable causing default fallback template loading.
  1. Deselect Active Frames on Canvas

If you have a mobile frame or small component selected when triggering Figma Weave, the AI engine often inherits that aspect ratio. Click anywhere on the blank canvas background to deselect all nodes before prompting.

  1. Specify Explicit Desktop Breakpoints in Prompt

Instead of writing "build a dashboard page", specify structural viewport parameters. Use phrasing like: `Generate a desktop dashboard wireframe for 1440px viewport width with a left sidebar navigation and main content grid.`

  1. Pre-Create a Desktop Parent Frame

Draw an empty Figma frame set to Desktop size (1440 x 900) on your canvas. Focus Figma Weave inside that targeted frame or instruct Weave to generate directly inside the container bounds.

  1. Reset AI Generation Session

Persistent breakpoint sticky behavior can occur when session cache retains previous layout rules. Close the Weave panel, refresh your browser tab or Figma desktop app, and re-open the plugin panel.

  1. Check Design System Responsive Settings

If you linked a local design system, ensure your master layout components are not constrained to fixed mobile widths. Weave attempts to map generated nodes to connected system tokens.

Still stuck?

If Figma Weave continues rendering mobile screens regardless of your canvas settings or prompt rules, confirm whether general generation functions are frozen by visiting our Figma Weave not generating guide, or verify overall server status on our Figma Weave down page.
